75% rain water pumped out from Gwadar

Gwadar: Pakistan Army, Navy, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and other organizations have so far extracted 75% rain water from rain-hit Gwadar, officials said.

“Even now, the process of extracting water is going on. People have been shifted to safer places from the residential areas where water had accumulated,” PDMA spokesperson said.

He said civil and military organizations were conducting rescue and relief operations in Gwadar.

“Despite heavy rainfall in Gwadar, we’re pleased to report that the situation is gradually improving. Our teams are working tirelessly to ensure safety and restore normalcy. Thank you for your cooperation and stay safe, everyone! Free medical camps have also been established in Gwadar with the support of Pakistan Army and district administration,” the PDMA spokesperson added.

Officials confirmed that newly elected Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will visit rain-hit Gwadar today (Tuesday). Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will reach Gwadar on March 5 and will visit the rain-affected areas.

The Prime Minister will also review the relief activities and announce the relief package for the victims.

Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem – Corps Commander of Balochistan Corps – earlier undertook a visit to the affected areas to assess the situation firsthand and extend support to the flood victims.

Accompanied by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Gwadar Division, the Corps Commander engaged in crucial discussions with local authorities and community leaders to comprehend the challenges confronting the affected populace.
