The Greek Prime Minister, who advocates the two countries can resolve crises through dialogue, expressed that the Greek people also support the normalization process.

In a period of thawing Turkish-Greek relations that began with President Erdogan’s visit to Athens in December, a new threshold is expected to be crossed with Mitsotakis’ visit in May.

Normalization process supported by the Greek people
Mitsotakis, who made evaluations on the subject, said, “The majority of the Greek people do not want trouble with Türkiye. They do not want us to live in a constant atmosphere of tension with Türkiye. Let’s look at the big picture. Significant progress has been made towards the thaw of Turkish-Greek relations,” he said.

One step will be taken at each meeting
Stating that the only disagreement between the two countries occurs in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, Mitsotakis said, “We want to take one step further in every meeting. We want our relations to improve step by step.”
