New lifestyles gain popularity among young Chinese

In recent years, motor surfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding have emerged as the “new favorites” for the young people here.
“Lying on the paddle board, gazing at the blue sky, white clouds, and sunset, is also a kind of contentment,” outdoor sports enthusiast Lin Li said. Lin visits the camp almost every week, which also inspires his family to get into the water sports.

The Henan Museum in Zhengzhou witnessed an increase in visitor flow during the May Day holiday. In the bustling crowd, the flashes of “volunteer red” is particularly eye-catching. They are volunteers of the Henan Museum.
Qin Yanjie, Yang Meng, and Liu Yan are all members of the volunteer team at the museum, serving in the Chinese and English interpretation groups and the promotional team respectively.
In recent years, the volunteer team of the Henan Museum has accumulated over 3.1 million hours of voluntary service to the public.

As night falls, the classrooms of the Tianjin Youth Palace are brightly lit.
A group of young people dressed in sportswear are practicing Baduanjin, an ancient Chinese qigong exercise combining movement. Next door, the melodious tunes of ethnic dances can be heard. In the painting classroom, everyone is holding brushes and listening to the teacher’s guidance in front of their canvases.
Night school, as an educational form, is “breaking” into the view of young people in a brand-new way.
For Lyu Xinlei, the youth night school has become an important destination for her after work. “In the past, I would mostly dine out or go shopping with friends after work. Participating in the youth night school not only helps me relax and enrich my life, but also gives me an opportunity to make new friends,” Lyu said.
At the end of 2023, a branded event of youth night school organized by local authorities was officially launched in Tianjin. Popular courses are often fully booked as soon as they are available.
