New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in H1 2024 up 30.8%
Sofia: There were 23 047 new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in the first half of 2024, an increase of 30.8 per cent compared with January-June 2023, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, ACEA, said on July 18.
Of the new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in the first six months of 2024, a total of 16 450 were petrol cars, 5012 diesel, 871 battery-electric, 467 hybrid-electric and 247 plug-in hybrid.
In June 2024, EU car registrations increased by 4.3 per cent, driven by gains in three out of the region’s four major markets: Italy (+15.1 per cent), Germany (+6.1 per cent), and Spain (+2.2 per cent). In contrast, France saw a decline of 4.8 per cent last month.
In the first half of 2024, new car registrations increased by 4.5 per cent, reaching nearly 5.7 million units.
However, registration volumes remain relatively low (-18 per cent) compared to pre-pandemic levels.
The bloc’s largest markets all showed positive but modest performance, with Spain (+5.9 per cent), Germany (+5.4 per cent), Italy (+5.4 per cent), and France (+2.8 per cent) all recording growth, ACEA said.
