Sofia: Bulgaria’s Sofia Airport said on Friday it has not been affected by the global computer outage that is creating chaos at airports around the world.

“At the moment, many airports and airlines in Europe are experiencing difficulties due to an IT outage. Sofia Airport is not affected, but some departing and arriving flights may be delayed […]”, the airport in the Bulgarian capital said in a Facebook post.

Friday’s flight from Berlin to Sofia, operated by low-cost carrier Ryanair, has been cancelled, according to the Sofia Airport website.

Airlines around the world, including United Airlines Holdings, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Deutsche Lufthansa, Air France-KLM and Ryanair grounded flights because of the computer outage. The issue also affected banks, stock exchanges and media companies.

The problem appears to be caused by an update from cybersecurity-software company CrowdStrike that led to outages for users of Microsoft Windows devices, according to multiple media reports.
