China condemns all acts against civilians, calls for ceasefire in Gaza

Beijing: China is gravely concerned over the relevant military operation of Israel which caused massive civilian casualties in Gaza, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday, referring to a question over an Israeli strike on a Gaza school where more than 100 people were killed on August 10.

“We condemn all acts that harm civilians, oppose all moves that violate international humanitarian law, and call on Israel to heed the call of the international community, stop the hostilities at once, do everything possible to protect civilians and avoid further escalation in the region,” Lin said in a statement.

The spokesperson added that China urges the international community to double efforts to alleviate and end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
