Independence Day celebrated at the Embassy of Pakistan, Belgium

Brussels: The Independence Day of Pakistan was commemorated with great patriotic fervor at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels Wednesday.

The event was marked by a series of activities that underscored the spirit of freedom, unity, and the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan.

The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Her Excellency Amna Baloch, Ambassador of Pakistan to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg, at the Embassy premises. The playing of the national anthem added to the solemnity of the occasion, evoking a deep sense of pride and reverence among the attendees.

On the occasion, the messages of the President, Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. The leadership paid glowing tributes to the founding fathers of Pakistan, and their vision led to the creation of an independent homeland. They reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to strive towards the realization of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision for a progressive, peaceful, and prosperous Pakistan

In her address, Ambassador Amna Baloch highlighted the significance of Independence Day, reflecting on the enduring legacy of Quaid-e-Azam and Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. She emphasized the relevance of their vision in today’s world, stressing the need for unity, hard work, and dedication to build a strong nation that stands resilient against challenges. The Ambassador also appreciated the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Belgium and Luxembourg, acknowledging their role in strengthening Pakistan’s ties with Europe.

As part of the celebrations, the Embassy also hosted a vibrant Mango Festival, showcasing varieties of mangoes, especially flown in for the occasion. The event highlighted the economic significance of mangoes, often referred to as the ‘king of fruits’, and their role in fostering Pakistan’s global trade relations. The festival not only provided a platform to celebrate the nation’s independence but also served as a cultural bridge, bringing the beauty of Pakistan to the international audience.

The Independence Day event was attended by a diverse group of participants, including members of the Pakistani community in Belgium and Luxembourg, local dignitaries, diplomats, and journalists. The celebration was a true reflection of the unity and cultural diversity within the Pakistani community, with active participation of families, women, children, and students.

Following the official ceremony, attendees were treated to a traditional Pakistani brunch featuring Halwa Puri and Channay, which was warmly received and appreciated by all. The brunch provided a taste of home for many and further enriched the cultural experience of the day.
