Pakistani, Chinese institutions to establish the Zheng He Development Centre at NUST
Islamabad: In a major step toward deepening its international partnerships, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) formalised an understanding with Jiangsu Shengxianglin Stock Holding Co., a prominent Chinese company, to establish the Zheng He Development Centre at NUST.
This initiative is part of NUST’s ongoing efforts to expand its global outreach and enhance the academic and professional opportunities available to its students.
The Zheng He Development Centre is set to become a hub for advanced technical training in cutting-edge fields, equipping Pakistani students with the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in a rapidly evolving global job market.
Beyond training, the centre will play a pivotal role in securing placements for these students in top-tier Chinese companies that operate not only in China but across the globe. This move is expected to significantly boost the international employability of NUST graduates.
The agreement signing ceremony was a notable event, attracting the presence of representatives from some of the world’s leading technology firms, including Huawei and ZTE.
These industry giants have expressed their strong commitment to supporting the centre’s mission by helping develop specialized expertise among the trainees. Their involvement is anticipated to enhance the quality of training programs, ensuring that students are well-prepared to meet the demands of the global technology industry.
During the ceremony, Dr. Osman Hasan, NUST’s Pro-Rector for Academics, delivered a keynote address in which he underscored the importance of this initiative.
He remarked that the technical training provided through the Zheng He Development Centre would greatly expand the international career prospects for qualified individuals.
Dr. Hasan also highlighted that this project is a clear manifestation of the deep and enduring educational and cultural ties between Pakistan and China.
He emphasized that the collaboration is not just about education but also about strengthening the broader relationship between the two nations, particularly in regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan, where Chinese companies have a significant presence.
The establishment of the Zheng He Development Centre at NUST is expected to be a landmark achievement, further solidifying NUST’s position as a leading educational institution with a strong focus on internationalization and industry collaboration. It also reflects the growing importance of Pakistan-China cooperation in the realms of education, technology, and workforce development.
