ECOMONDO 2024: Sustainable innovation at the heart of the 27th edition in Italy
Rome: From 5 to 8 November 2024, the Italian coastal city of Rimini will be hosting the 27th edition of Ecomondo. This is one of the key events for solutions for the green and circular economy in Europe and the Mediterranean basin. At least 900 participants, including business leaders, political decision-makers and researchers, are expected to attend the event, which will focus on sustainable innovation and technology in particular.
They will come from various European countries (France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, etc.). Several delegations from sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) will also be taking part. During the four days of conferences and exhibitions, they will be discussing new advances in big data and artificial intelligence (AI) in the fields of agriculture, soil restoration, textiles and environmental monitoring, among others.
The idea is to explore the latest advances likely to boost the global economy and, above all, “prevent and mitigate the effects of climate change”, says the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the organiser. Innovative solutions developed by 30 start-ups will also be highlighted and rewarded in Rimini as part of the Lorenzo Cagnoni Prize, in tribute to the initiator of the Ecomondo project.
The 27th meeting in November 2024 will take place just a few months after the launch of the Rome government’s Mattei Plan for Africa. This is an investment programme that includes energy agreements in exchange for increased cooperation on migration. The African leaders, who will be meeting Italian officials in Rimini, will no doubt be discussing the sustainability and technology aspects of this €5.5 billion plan.
