Mario Hermoso lands in Italy ahead of Roma medical

Rome: Free agent defender Mario Hermoso has arrived in Italy to begin the next chapter of his career.

Accompanied by his agent, the Spanish defender landed at Fiumicino Airport early this afternoon to undergo medical examinations ahead of his transfer switch to Roma.

The Giallorossi won the race for the highly-coveted free agent late yesterday—fending off significant interest from Galatasaray, who nearly completed a deal for the player before eventually dropping out.

Hermoso will sign a three-year contract with the capital club and become their newest defensive acquisition. He’ll replace veteran Chris Smalling, 34, who’s on the verge of joining Saudi side Al-Fahya.
