Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal has said that speeding work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects will accelerate progress in the country,
He expressed disappointment over the previous stalling of CPEC projects after the 2018, which he said resulted in diminished investor trust and slowed economic progress.
Speaking at the launch of the book “Pakistan’s 100 Most Successful CEOs and Diplomats,” the Minister underscored the importance of collaboration in advancing the country’s economic and social progress.
Minister Iqbal emphasized that his administration has worked diligently to prevent the nation from defaulting and has focused on economic recovery, guided by the ‘5Es’ strategy—Exports, Digital Development, Environment, Energy, and Equity.
Highlighting the government’s achievements over the past 16 months, including inflation control, economic stabilization, and the restoration of confidence among international financial institutions, the Minister reaffirmed the need for policy consistency.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to these goals will transform Pakistan into a stable and prosperous economy
Iqbal called for a unified effort between the government, private institutions, and civil society to drive national development.
Minister Iqbal hailed the event as a milestone, bringing together visionary leaders who play key roles in shaping Pakistan’s future.
He praised the efforts of private sector leaders for their contributions to innovation, leadership, and productivity, calling them the architects of modern Pakistan. He also commended Ejaz Nisar and his team for organizing the event, which provided a platform for influential figures from various sectors to unite for a common cause.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s 77-year journey since independence, the Minister acknowledged the economic and social challenges the nation has faced, attributing the slow progress to a lack of stability and policy continuity.
He stressed the need for economic revitalization, a clear strategic vision, and consistent policies to set Pakistan on the path of sustainable growth.
He noted the government’s achievements in overcoming these issues, particularly the successful implementation of CPEC, which restored investor confidence.
