Bulgaria warns of hazardous weather as heavy rainfall forecast for September 11

Sofia: Bulgaria’s national weather bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of hazardous weather for several districts for September 11 because of forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Turgovishte, Smolyan, Silistra, Razgrad, Rousse, Shoumen, Veliko Turnovo, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Yambol, Haskovo and Kurdzhali.

The lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially hazardous weather has been issued for some districts for Wednesday, also because of forecast rainfall and thunderstorms.

The Code Yellow warning applies to the districts of Dobrich, Varna, Bourgas, Plovdiv, Lovech and Pleven.

The weather bureau said that after a morning of significant rainfall, mainly in the eastern parts of Bulgaria, in the afternoon of September 11, rainfall would weaken and stop.

At the Black Sea, the weather would be cloudy, with significant rainfall in places.

Across Bulgaria, maximum temperatures on September 11 will range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.

For Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia, the forecast high is 25 deg C. Plovdiv is set for a maximum 29 deg C, Varna 27 deg C and Bourgas 30 deg C.
