Bulgaria’s tourist overnights revenue rises 15% y/y in July
Sofia: Total revenue from tourist overnights in Bulgaria grew by an annual 15.4% to 524.6 million levs in July ($296.2 million/268.2 million euro), the statistical office said on Thursday.
Revenue from domestic tourists stood at 158 million levs, while foreign visitors generated revenue of 366.6 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a regular report.
The total number of nights spent increased by 2.4% year-on-year to 5.9 million in the review month. Overnights spent by foreigners amounted to 3.8 million.
In July, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria rose by 0.7% on the year to 1.5 million. Of those, 794,300 were foreign visitors, up by an annual 3.6%, while the number of domestic tourists slipped by 2.7% to 656,800, the NSI said.
