Chinese Ambassador suggests initiative to expand cultivation of hybrid seeds in Punjab
Lahore: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, met with Pakistan Muslim League-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.
The discussions centered around strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in technology, business, and investment.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif put forward a visionary proposal to establish a dedicated “China Economic Zone” in Punjab.
This zone would serve as a hub for Chinese investment, offering a range of incentives to attract investors.
She emphasized her eagerness to leverage China’s technological advancements, particularly in the fields of dairy production and agriculture, to boost Pakistan’s economic growth.
In response, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong suggested an initiative to expand the cultivation of hybrid seeds in Punjab, which could significantly enhance the province’s agricultural output.
He proposed a training program for 1,000 Pakistani farmers, aimed at equipping them with modern farming techniques and water-efficient practices, further contributing to sustainable agriculture in the region.
