Lahore police enhances security for Chinese citizens
Lahore: Amid growing security concerns, Lahore’s Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Bilal Siddique Kamyana, has presided over an important meeting to assess and improve the safety measures for Chinese nationals residing in the city.
The meeting focused on reviewing existing protocols while discussing additional strategies to ensure the protection of Chinese residents, particularly in the context of recent violent incidents targeting foreigners.
The CCPO emphasized that Lahore Police is committed to providing top-tier security for Chinese nationals, many of whom are in the city for business or are involved in major development projects such as the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He underscored the importance of continuous communication between the police, the administration of Chinese installations, focal persons, and law enforcement agencies to ensure that all security needs are met.
As part of these efforts, the CCPO instructed police officials, including divisional SPs (Operations), to carry out regular inspections of Chinese residences and workplaces. He urged law enforcement officers to remain vigilant and proactive, ensuring that both residential and commercial premises where Chinese citizens live and work are well-protected.
The meeting also focused on the role of the Special Protection Unit (SPU), a specialized unit trained to safeguard foreign nationals. The CCPO noted that the SPU personnel were diligently fulfilling their duties, but additional measures would be taken to further tighten security around Chinese installations. Special attention would be given to strengthening security around the Chinese consulates in Lahore, as well as bolstering safety measures for Chinese individuals during their travel within the city.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that Chinese nationals feel secure and supported during their time in Lahore.
