Portugal: More areas put on heavy rain alert

Lisbon: The yellow warning for precipitation came into force at 2pm in the districts of Leiria, Castelo Branco, Lisbon, Santarém, Portalegre and Setúbal, according to the IPMA.

In these places, the weather forecast for today is “periods of rain or showers, which can be locally intense and accompanied by thunderstorms in the Central and Southern regions”, and “sometimes strong wind in the highlands”.

The warning will extend until Tuesday for the districts of Castelo Branco, Santarém and Portalegre.

These three districts will be joined on Tuesday under a yellow warning, with a forecast of “rainfall, sometimes heavy”, and four others in the North region, namely Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto and Aveiro.

According to IPMA, these yellow warnings were in force until 12pm on Tuesday.
