Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.23%
Lisbon: Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which rose 3.63% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.57 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (ELI:SEM) added 2.31% or 0.32 points to end at 14.16 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) was up 1.45% or 0.26 points to 18.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which fell 2.67% or 0.30 points to trade at 10.94 at the close. EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) declined 0.57% or 0.02 points to end at 3.30 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) was down 0.35% or 0.02 points to 4.28.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 18 to 7 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.67% or 0.30 to 10.94. Shares in EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) fell to 3-years lows; down 0.57% or 0.02 to 3.30.
Brent oil for January delivery was up 0.60% or 0.45 to $75.37 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.53% or 0.38 to hit $72.07 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.02% or 27.40 to trade at $2,703.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.59% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 104.34.
