Greece makes bid to host EuroBasket 2029
Greece is seeking to host a group stage and the final phase of Eurobasket 2029 and has submitted its application to FIBA.
Following the successful bid for the 2025 Women’s EuroBasket, the Greek Basketball Federation is trying to bring another major tournament to Greece.
Per the official announcement, the Balkan country has joined the list of candidates (which also includes Spain) to host the 2029 EuroBasket. The application was submitted to FIBA on Friday (November 29), and it’s about Greece hosting one of the groups in the first stage, as well as the final stage of the tournament.
The venue that the Federation proposed is the renovated OAKA, soon to be renamed as Telekom arena.
The decision on where the event will be hosted is expected by FIBA in May 2025. So far, Greece and Spain are the only candidates.
