Pakistan, China agree to boost cooperation in maritime sector
Islamabad: A high-level delegation from China Yunnan Sunny Road & Bridge Co., Ltd., led by Chairman Xub Jiazheng, along with Directors Lipin and Jackey Chen, met with Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, to discuss potential investment opportunities in Pakistan’s maritime sector.
The Chinese company, recognized for its innovative pavement technology, has earned commendation from the Prime Minister of Pakistan for its contributions to national infrastructure projects, including the successful rehabilitation of roads under the National Highway Authority (NHA).
During the meeting, the Minister praised the company’s strong reputation and highlighted the positive experiences Pakistan has had working with Chinese companies in various sectors, particularly the maritime industry. He reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and economic partnership between Pakistan and China.
The Minister acknowledged China’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s development, emphasizing the transformational impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on infrastructure, energy, and industrial cooperation. He stressed the importance of expanding this collaboration to the maritime sector, which holds immense potential for mutual growth.
Both sides underscored the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and China, built on trust, mutual respect, and shared goals. The delegation expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s hospitality and reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s economic progress and regional stability.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about future collaborations aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing trade and investment, and fostering economic growth for the mutual benefit of both countries.
