Sofia: Bulgaria made its debut in promoting itself as a prime tourist destination in the United Arab Emirates during a roadshow held on February 20 at the luxurious Shangri-La Dubai Hotel.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism revealed that the event attracted nearly 100 attendees from prominent travel agencies across the Middle East and Gulf region.

Key presentations were delivered by Frank Quante, CEO of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, and Radostina Zlateva, Senior Air Traffic Development Expert. They showcased Bulgaria’s diverse tourism offerings, including its breathtaking nature, distinct four-season climate, and attractions such as SPA and wellness resorts, golf, and more. A major highlight was the upcoming launch of a direct flight route between Abu Dhabi and Varna on March 31 via Wizz Air, which will significantly improve access to Bulgaria’s scenic Black Sea coast.

During one-on-one B2B meetings, attendees seized the opportunity to build new partnerships and share innovative ideas. More than 15 organizations from Bulgaria’s tourism industry, including hotels, tour operators, the Bulgarian Black Sea Alliance, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Municipality of Varna, were actively involved.

The roadshow received strong backing from the Ministry of Tourism, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management, the Bulgarian Black Sea Alliance, the International Hotel, and Win Travel.

Continuing its campaign to attract tourists from the UAE, Bulgaria is planning an educational tour (“fam trip”) for top travel agencies. This initiative aims to familiarize them with the northern Black Sea coast’s natural beauty, cultural landmarks, accommodation options, and diverse tourism experiences.
