UK, France also express sympathy with Pakistan

Islamabad: The United States Embassy in Islamabad Wednesday strongly condemned the brutal attack on the Jaffar Express train and the hostage-taking of passengers in Kacchi, Balochistan.

The assault, which was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) — a US-designated global terrorist organization — has drawn widespread condemnation.

In an official statement on its X account, the US Embassy expressed deep sympathy for the victims, their families, and all those affected by the tragic incident.

“We strongly condemn the attack on the Jaffar Express train and the hostage-taking of passengers. The Pakistani people deserve to live free from violence and fear,” the statement read.

Reaffirming its commitment to Pakistan’s security, the United States pledged to stand by the country in its efforts to combat terrorism. “The United States will remain a steadfast partner of Pakistan in its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all its citizens. We stand in solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time,” the embassy added.

According to security sources, 190 passengers have been safely rescued so far, while 30 terrorists have been killed during the operation. They said that a large number of hostage passengers, including women and children, who were being used as human shields, have been rescued.

Meanwhile, the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, David Lammy, issued a statement condemning the tragic incident in Balochistan.

“We condemn the terrorist attack in Balochistan. Our thoughts are with the loved ones of those who have lost their lives,” Lammy said.

Separately, the France embassy in Pakistan condemned the heinous terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan since March 11 and expressed its deepest sympathy to the victims and their loved ones.

“All those still held hostage must be released immediately. In the face of this tragic situation, we express our solidarity with the Pakistani people,” the embassy said.
