Tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 March, will be declared a day of national mourning in Bulgaria as an expression of solidarity with our closest neighbour in the Balkans.

This was announced by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in connection with the tragic incident in the town of Kochani, in which a fire in a disco killed 59 people and injured more than 150, BGNES reports.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.

14 of the injured were transported to medical facilities in Bulgaria.

In such moments it is most important to show timely empathy and solidarity. Bulgaria is ready to receive more victims, Zhelyazkov said.

We have also provided conditions for the relatives of the victims to arrive here and be in contact with their relatives, the prime minister added.
