Italy-Bulgaria International Conference “Archaeology and Architecture”
Sofia: The Italian Ambassador in Sofia, Giuseppina Zarra, inaugurated the fourth edition of the international forum “Bratsigovo – The Stone Stream of Time,” the Italy-Bulgaria International Conference “Archaeology and Architecture – Achievements and Perspectives,” organised by the Italian Embassy in Sofia in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, Italian Trade Agency, and Confindustria Bulgaria, alongside the Municipality of Bratsigovo and the local Chambers of Architects and Builders.
This year’s edition, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, took place from 12 to 14 September and featured a series of conferences, workshops, and an official round table, accompanied by art exhibitions and an Italian choral performance.
The theme of this edition focused on the exchange of technical knowledge and experiences between Italy and Bulgaria in the fields of archaeology and architecture. Several Italian speakers and experts participated (Andrea Griletto – Director of Assorestauro in Italy; Stefano Borghini – Colosseum Archaeological Park; Vincenzo Calvanese – Pompeii Archaeological Park), as well as Bulgarian representatives from the sector, who signed a memorandum of partnership in the field of immovable cultural heritage conservation, traditions, architecture, archaeology, and the arts.
In her address, Ambassador Zarra highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences and best practices between Bulgaria and Italy in the field of cultural heritage preservation and enhancement. She emphasised that strengthening cooperation in this area not only fosters bilateral cultural ties but also promotes economic development and awareness of the need to protect cultural heritage through the use of modern techniques and the most innovative products.
