Foreign visitor arrivals in Bulgaria for holidays in 2024 up 8.8% y/y

Sofia: There were a total of 5 793 225 arrivals of visitors from abroad in Bulgaria in 2024, an increase of 8.8 per cent compared with the 2023 figure, according to data for last year posted by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on February 17.

Of last year’s total, 3 003 643 of the arrivals were from other European Union countries.

Breaking down the data by country, the largest number of arrivals came from Romania, 1 078 223.

A total of 645 457 came from Ukraine and 559 504 from Türkiye.

A total of 394 338 came from Greece, 304 338 from Germany, 345 881 from Poland, 330 481 from the United Kingdom, 147 219 from Israel and 57 320 from the United States.

The 2024 figure is sharply higher than the figure of 2 306 819 for 2021, the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic.
