Pakistani and Chinese Media’s role to counter anti-CPEC propaganda: Dr Firdous
Islanabad: Pakistan has said that anti-CPEC propaganda can be defeated by joint efforts of the Pakistani and Chinese media.
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said responsible role of media is vital for the CPEC success, China Economic Net reported.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) by the Chinese state news agency Xinhua with local media houses, she emphasized on strengthening of media cooperation and coordination for countering negative propaganda against the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) of which CPEC is a key component.
The special assistant appreciated the Chinese news agency and Pakistan media’s role in this regard. She said that development of Gwadar Port under CPEC will improve “our linkages with rest of the world.”
Dr Awan said CPEC is a guarantor to Pakistan’s economic development. She said China has been a long-standing and deep friend and it had always supported Pakistan in every hour of need.
She said Pak-China friendship had assumed a proverbial status and it is sweeter than honey, higher than Himalayas and deeper than oceans.
The special assistant said economic zones to be established under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will generate job opportunities for the people. She added that the commercial loans taken from China will witness remarkable reduction in the months and years to come.
“CPEC is the flag ship project which will change fate of the entire region and usher a new era of prosperity. The government is committed resolve to facilitate the investors in CPEC’s projects,” she remarked.
She said Prime Minister Imran Khan had recently visited Gwadar and announced mega projects worth billion of rupees. She said that the government is spending Rs 70 billion on the construction of Makran Coastal transmission line and the PM had also inaugurated Gwadar Airport worth Rs 23 billion.
She mentioned China had awarded 20,000 scholarships to Pakistani students. She said that the people of both countries had rejected the negative propaganda against CPEC and this project will play vital role in prosperity of the Pakistan.
CPEC is a framework of regional connectivity. It will not only benefit China and Pakistan but will have positive impact on Iran, Afghanistan, India and the entire region.
The enhancement of geographical linkages having improved road, rail and air transportation system with frequent and free exchanges of growth and people to people contact, enhancing understanding through academic, cultural and regional knowledge and culture, activity of higher volume of flow of trade and businesses, producing and moving energy to have more optimal businesses and enhancement of co-operation by win-win model will result in well connected, integrated region of shared destiny, harmony and development.
