Over 90 pct of Chinese non-ferrous metal firms resume production
Beijing: About 90.5 percent of China’s non-ferrous metal firms and producers of copper and aluminum have resumed production as of Wednesday, latest industrial data showed.
The rate was 7.1 percentage points higher from that of Feb. 19, according to China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, which surveyed 241 non-ferrous metal firms, Normal production of common non-ferrous metals smelting was maintained amid epidemic, with a capacity utilization rate of products over 85 percent, Jia Mingxing, vice chairman of the association, told a press conference Thursday, China Economic Net reported.
The capacity utilization rate of copper and aluminum processing enterprises which had resumed work and production returned to 59 percent for the first time on Wednesday, an increase of 12.9 percentage points over the figure on Feb. 19, said the association.Non-ferrous metal operation is expected to resume gradually in Q2 of 2020, and the performance of products reflecting the non-ferrous metal industry might return to a normal level in H1, Jia said.
