Pak, India exchange lists of nuclear installations

Islamabad: Pakistan and Indian exchanged lists of their nuclear installations at a time when relations are tense over the cross-border shelling. The foreign ministry said: “The lists were exchanged in ambit of the Agreement on Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities of Pakistan with India signed on December 31, 1988.” It said: “The list of nuclear installations and facilities in Pakistan was officially handed over to a representative of the Indian High Commission at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, at 10 a.m.” It said the “Indian Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi handed over the list of Indian Nuclear installations and facilities to a representative of the Pakistan High Commission.” The pact cover the provision that both countries inform of their nukes on January 1. Pakistan also handed over a list of “537Indian prisoners, 54 civil and 483 fishermen” in Pakistan to the HC of India in Islamabad. This step is consistent with the “Consular Access Agreement” of Pakistan with India, signed in 2008, under which both are required to swap lists of prisoners in their custody two times in a year, on January 1 and July 1.
