People stopped from witnessing Zardari proceedings: Bilawal Bhutto

Islamabad: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that all the roads to the NAB court were blocked to stop people from witnessing the injustices meted out to PPP leadership.

Talking to media after former President Asif Ali Zardari’s appearance before the NAB court, the Chairman PPP said that even the counsels of President Zardari, Advocate Farooq Naik and Sardar Abdul Latif Khosa were stopped and mishandled by the police.

Several senior lawyers of Supreme Court were also stopped. He asked whether this was a tactic to pressurize judges or the PPP. Is it an independent state? What did they want to hide from the judges of the Supreme Court and the people of Pakistan? The entire Islamabad police was deputed for one court appearance.

He said that today is 17th August and every jiyala remembers this day because this was the last day of Dictator Zia ul Haq. This should also be the end of this hybrid regime which is running through NAB. He said that PPP has fought against Dictator Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia ul Haq and Musharraf and is still fighting against this puppet regime. He said that the PPP is being pressurized for 18th Amendment and the NFC but PPP will not change its stance on such vital issues. He said that if you want to arrest my entire family then do it but we will not compromise on the economic rights of the people and the constitution of Pakistan.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that it is ironic that one judge of the NAB allows President Zardari to appear via video link whereas the other judge of the NAB court ordered the former President Zardari to appear before court in person despite the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that the PPP has always respected courts. The PPP is still expecting justice by the courts in Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s case.

Chairman PPP said that a notorious terrorist Ehsanullah Ehsan escaped detention. He is the same person who boasted martyring children of Army Public School (APS) but no court in the country took suo moto notice. If they cannot give justice to the children of APS then who they will give justice to, he concluded.
