India violates LoC, man killed

Rawalpindi: Indian troops restored on Monday to unprovoked firing in Bagsar sector along Line of Control (LoC), Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said. According to a press release, the Indian forces targeted civil population and left a 26-year-old citizen, Azeem, dead while a woman got injured. The Pakistan Army aggressively responded to the Indian mischief, the media wing of the military said, adding that the ceasefire violations along LoC by the neighboring state was on the increase yet again. A week earlier, a woman was martyred and nine others sustained bullet wounds as a result of Indian troops’ firing across the LoC in Shahkot sector. The ISPR said that a woman, Asia Bibi, was martyred while 9 civilians, including two women and three children got injured in the incident. It is pertinent to mention here that a soldier of Pakistan Army was also martyred on Nov 8 as Indian forces started unprovoked shelling along the LoC. Meanwhile, the Foreign Office on Monday summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P Singh, condemning the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian army along the line of control which resulted in the martyrdom of a civilian. In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Faisal, said the Indian forces along the working boundary and line of control continuously target the civilian population. “The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws,” he added. “The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security which may lead to a strategic miscalculation.” He urged the Indian side to permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions. In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 330 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the martyrdom of 14 innocent civilians and injuries to 65 others. This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed more than 1970 ceasefire violations.
