Several Indonesian companies keen to invest in CPEC SEZs: Envoy

Islamabad: Ambassador of Indonesia to Pakistan Adam Mulawarman Tugio has said that several Indonesian companies were keen to invest in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) being established under the umbrella of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

In an interview with Pakistani official media, the envoy mentioned that CPEC projects will emerge as a game changer for entire region through connectivity up to Central Asia and Western China.

The Ambassador remarked that Pakistan had a huge potential to increase its exports to Indonesia particularly textile, garments, leather products, surgical instruments and fruits.

He stressed that there was a need to enhance political and economic relations between the two countries at all level to increase current trade volume of over two point five six billion dollars.

He also called for diversifying the trade and government to government relations for the benefit to both countries.

On Afghanistan issue, Tugio said global community should help the interim government in provision of basic needs to over 23 million Afghan people to avert the humanitarian crisis which was brewing at a fast pace.
