Islamabad: Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan Andreas Ferrarese and his wife Albana Ferrarese on Wednesday greeted the Italians living in Pakistan and the millions back home a happy Republic Day to be celebrated tomorrow (June 2).

“Warm wishes on the occasion of Italy Republic Day to everyone. This day reminds us of one of the most important days in the history of Italy,” they said in a joint statement.

They added: “It was on this day in the year 1946 that the citizens of Italy decided to form a republic government after the World War II. Happy Italy Republic Day.”

On 2 June, Italy celebrates Festa della Repubblica, commonly known as Italian Republic Day. On this day, Italians commemorate their status as a unitary parliamentary republic.

They celebrate this day with various expressions of art in ceremonies, parades, and concerts which are usually held in the capital city of Rome.

That’s not to say Italians who have taken residence in other parts of the world have forgotten their history and tradition. Italian embassies across the globe bring the Festa della Repubblica festivities to the rest of the world.

Overseas Italians cherish their tradition just as much, if not more than others. It’s not surprising that celebrating their amazing history and culture is something that has become a tradition for the natives and the rest of the world.

The country, its traditions and culture have played a pivotal role in the world. Italians have many reasons to celebrate Italy’s history.

The Italian embassy in Islamabad led by Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese has also planned a program to celebrate the event.
