Pakistan offers China to set up industry in CPEC’s Dhabeji SEZ for manufacturer products, exports
Islamabad, Federal Minister for Industries and Production Syed Murtaza Mahmud has offered China to set up their industry in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)’s 1,500-acre Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for manufacturer products and exports to the world.
In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong here, the Federal Minister for Industries and Production urged the Chinese companies, already working in mobile manufacturing, automobile and other sectors in Pakistan, to bring more investment to Pakistan because “we have a cheap and competitive labour to secure cost of production.”
Mahmud stressed that the Chinese companies can set up their industry in 1,500-acre Dhabeji SEZ for the benefit of both the friendly countries.
Exchanging views on range of bilateral issues of mutual interest and cooperation, the Chinese ambassador told the minister that China had given financial assistance to flood affectees through Red Crescent Society and Chinese companies working in Pakistan are being mobilized for fund raising for the purpose.
The minister informed that the floods had cost heavy loss to the agricultural sector in flood areas especially different crops have been damaged badly.
He maintained that in order to enhance exports of Pakistan, both the countries can work together on long term policies and exchange ideas with regard to exporting zones because 700 processing zones were working in China while only 8 processing zones are operational in Pakistan.
The minister mentioned that Pakistan had a big potential in agriculture sector especially fruits can be exported to China after its value addition.
The minister emphasized the need to increase volume of chili export although Pakistan was already exporting chilies to China.
The Chinese Ambassador, on the occasion, assured the minister to support Pakistani agricultural sector through modern technology and trained management to enhance yield of crops.
