Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri briefs global audience on floods situation in Pakistan

Canberra: Pakistani High Commissioner to Australia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri this week briefed the global audience on the current floods situation in Pakistan.

In an interview on the ABC television, he spoke about the loss of precious lives and damage to the infrastructure and houses.

The envoy highlighted the efforts of the Pakistan Government to provide relief to the affected.

He elaborated about the cash disbursements made to the families of those who lost their lives and to the injured.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that assistance was being provided by the government for the families to rebuild their houses.

He thanked the international community and the Australian Government for its support.

The envoy appreciated the support by the Pakistani diaspora including those in Australia. He underscored that Climate Change is a defining issue of our time.

“Pakistan is one of the worst affected country. Pakistan is responsible for less than one percent of the global greenhouse gas emissions but we are 8th on the list of countries deemed to be most vulnerable severe weather due to climate change,” he said.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudnri also underscored Pakistan’s climate agenda and vowed to support the global efforts in this regard,
