Italy: PSG worry over new injury for Verratti

Rome: Italy international midfielder Marco Verratti’s season continues to be troubled, as he was left out of the PSG squad due to a hip injury.

The former Pescara man has not had his best campaign since winning EURO 2020 with Italy, then failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He was then sent off against Stade Reims and given a two-match Ligue 1 ban, so was all set to make his return tomorrow in the big match with AS Monaco.

However, the Italian was not included in the list of players and a club statement explained Verratti is suffering from a left hip issue, so will remain at the training ground on Saturday.

It is a concern for Paris Saint-Germain, who have a huge Champions League Round of 16 tie coming up against Bayern Munich on February 14.

So far this season, 30-year-old Verratti has played 24 competitive games for PSG, contributing one assist.
