PM Shehbaz Sharif saddened at Beijing fire tragedy

Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed heartfelt condolences after a hospital fire in Beijing resulted in several casualties.

“Saddened to learn about the loss of precious lives in a hospital fire in Beijing. I convey my heartfelt condolences and most sincere sympathies to the bereaved families. May they find solace in the memory of their loved ones. Prayers for early recovery of the injured,” he tweeted after the sad incident.

Earlier, the Chinese media reported that at least 29 people died after a fire on Tuesday at Beijing Changfeng Hospital.

A preliminary investigation found the cause to be electric sparks caused by modification work. Among the dead, 26 were patients and one was family member of a patient, in addition to one care worker and one nurse. A total of 39 people were injured in the fire.
