PM Shehbaz Sharif urges Turkiye to join CPEC

Karachi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended another invitation to Turkiye to join the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing their natural partnership.

He made these remarks during the launch of the fourth Milgem class corvette at the Karachi Shipyard, with Turkiye Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz also in attendance.

In the past, the Prime Minister had also invited Turkiye to join CPEC, aiming to foster regional prosperity, alleviate poverty, and improve education and healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, he proposed transforming CPEC into a trilateral arrangement involving China, Pakistan, and Turkey to maximize benefits for all three nations.

Addressing the ceremony in Karachi, the Prime Minister acknowledged Port Qasim as a hub but stressed the need to connect it with Gwadar, where business was just beginning.

He expressed his belief that CPEC was a great success, especially as Pakistan and China had agreed to launch its second phase, resulting in increased business transactions by sea and land between the two countries.

The Prime Minister reiterated his invitation, inviting Turkiye to join hands in the story of mutual progress and prosperity.

He acknowledged the deep-rooted and historic relations between the two countries, citing their common faith, heritage, and civilization. Additionally, he highlighted their support for each other during challenging times, such as Turkiye’s assistance during the 2010 and last year’s devastating floods.

PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the launch of the warship as a testament to the countries’ commitment to supporting one another and strengthening trade, industry, and economic cooperation.

He expressed the desire to enhance strategic cooperation and expand the joint venture into various other areas.
