CPEC: Pakistan eager to strengthen collaborative efforts with China in multiple sectors
Islamabad: Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has said that Islamabad was eager to strengthen its collaborative efforts with Beijing in sectors such as mining, agriculture, and information technology (IT) as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project advances into a new phase.
He made these remarks during his address at a seminar titled “CPEC and My Life.”
Solangi emphasized that CPEC has been a transformative project, significantly impacting the lives of millions of Pakistanis since its inception. He expressed his delight in seeing individuals from various backgrounds invited to share their experiences regarding the positive influence of CPEC on their lives.
The minister highlighted the substantial benefits that the people have reaped from various CPEC projects, including the Orange Train in Lahore, Thar Coal in Sindh, and the development of Gwadar in Balochistan. He underlined that CPEC represents a crucial component of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in Pakistan.
Solangi stressed the enduring friendship between China and Pakistan, describing them as “iron-brothers” who have supported each other through thick and thin.
He also conveyed the present government’s determination to elevate bilateral relations to new heights. Solangi mentioned an upcoming interaction between the top leadership of both countries in China, anticipating that it would further strengthen bilateral ties.
“With CPEC entering a new phase, Pakistan eagerly seeks increased collaboration with China in sectors such as mining, agriculture, IT, and more,” he remarked.
The minister highlighted the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) by Pakistan, aimed at providing streamlined services to investors.
Solangi shared insights gained from his recent visit to China, where he was impressed by the remarkable modernization and technological advances of the People’s Republic of China. He credited China for guiding Pakistan on the path of development.
He noted the significant milestones of celebrating the 10th anniversary of both the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the launch of the CPEC, highlighting various commemorative events held recently.
The minister emphasized CPEC’s role in regional integration, pointing out its potential benefits not only to China and Pakistan but also to neighboring countries like Iran, Afghanistan, Central Asian Republics, and the broader region.
He contended that CPEC, with its contributions to Pakistan’s economic and social development, would lead to progress for both nations.
Solangi also mentioned that besides major infrastructure projects, there are plans for smaller, impactful initiatives that would generate income and employment opportunities. Improved transportation systems, including roads, railways, and air travel, would facilitate people-to-people interactions and academic collaborations.
These developments are expected to promote harmony, sustainable development, and integrated growth, he added.
The minister emphasized that CPEC embodies a journey toward economic growth in a globalized world. It is based on ideals of peace, development, and a win-win model for all parties involved. Solangi sees CPEC as a beacon of hope for the people, enabling peace and development through economic growth.
