Pakistan, China agree to enhance collaboration in respective mainstream media outlets

Islamabad: Pakistan and China have jointly decided to enhance their collaboration in their respective mainstream media outlets.

This decision was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, and a Chinese media delegation led by China’s Political Counsellor Bao Zhong.

The key points agreed upon include the promotion of projects associated with the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) through Pakistani state-run media channels such as Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan, and the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Both the sides acknowledged the importance of strengthening practical cooperation in terms of joint reporting and facilitating exchanges of media delegations.

Minister Murtaza Solangi expressed Pakistan’s appreciation for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), recognizing it as a platform for achieving peace and prosperity through economic development. Solangi emphasized the crucial role of the media in creating public awareness about the significance of CPEC and the unwavering friendship between Pakistan and China.

Solangi also emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with China across various sectors as part of the new phase of high-quality development of CPEC.

He expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to draw from China’s extensive experience in areas such as poverty alleviation, research and development, information technology, and media.

In response, the Chinese political counsellor stated her belief that CPEC would evolve into a “corridor of love” and highlighted her country’s intention to enhance cooperation with Pakistan not only in the field of media but also in information technology, agriculture, and the industrial sector.

Notable attendees at this meeting included the Federal Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, the Executive Director General of the EP Wing, the Managing Director of APP, the Director General of PBC, and the Director of Current Affairs at PTV.
