CPEC a guarantor of regional development, prosperity: SCCI chief
Peshawar: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Fuad Ishaq has termed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a guarantor of regional development and prosperity.
He stressed the importance of completing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the CPEC in a timely manner.
Ishaq expressed optimism that Chinese investments in these SEZs would further boost the country’s exports and enhance industrial capacity.
He emphasized that CPEC projects present significant investment opportunities for the nation. The timely completion of SEZs under CPEC, he noted, would generate additional economic activities and employment opportunities, contributing to the stability and growth of the national economy.
During a visit to the China Window (Chinese Culture Centre) in Peshawar, Fuad Ishaq, accompanied by SCCI Secretary General Sajjad Aziz, highlighted the strengthening of China-Pakistan relations over time, grounded in the friendship between the people of both countries. He expressed the pride and trust of the Pakistani nation in its friendship with China.
Ishaq also mentioned that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) forum provided a platform for leaders of different countries to discuss the benefits of the multi-billion Dollar CPEC project.
He commended the efficient presentation of Pakistan’s stance by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar at the forum.
He believed that Pakistan’s involvement in the ML-I project would initiate a new phase of economic progress through Pakistan Railways. Furthermore, Ishaq highlighted that the CPEC project is poised to bring economic development, especially benefiting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and contribute to enhanced connectivity and overall progress.
He emphasized that CPEC has entered a new phase of execution and construction that will promote industrialization, create employment opportunities, and drive progress in various sectors, including mining, Information Technology, and agriculture.
