Roundtable conference held to discuss CPEC
Lahore: A roundtable conference was held in Lahore to discuss the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
As the chief guest at the event, Professor Dr Javed Akram, the Caretaker Punjab Health Minister, underscored that CPEC transcends being merely a road project; it stands as a venture of immense importance for the entire nation.
Akram highlighted the pivotal significance of CPEC in Pakistan’s development.
He made it clear that the Punjab government is unwavering in its commitment to the success of this initiative, which is anticipated to bring about remarkable progress in both the economies of Pakistan and China.
In the context of healthcare, the minister pointed out that China houses the world’s largest heart hospital, situated in Beijing.
He noted the increasing number of deaths related to heart disease in Pakistan and mentioned the determination of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to provide modern facilities to the public.
Dr Akram emphasized the potential for collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese medical institutions, particularly in the realm of research.
He congratulated the organizers of the conference and stressed the enduring bonds of friendship between Pakistan and China.
The event’s conclusion saw the distribution of commemorative shields to Consul General of China Zhao Shiren and other distinguished guests, underlining the significance of the discussions and the cooperation between the two nations.
