CPEC: Pakistan, China agree to expedite work on ML-1 project
Islamabad: Pakistan and China have agreed to expedite work on the crucial Main Line One (ML-1) project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In a notable diplomatic development, Shahid Ashraf Tarar, the Minister of Communication, Maritime Affairs, and Railways, conducted a productive meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong to discuss the important project.
The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the domains of transportation and communication, with a specific focus on advancing the crucial ML-1 project.
Throughout the meeting, both sides engaged in positive dialogue on various topics of mutual interest, reiterating the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China, said an official statement.
Both the sides, reaffirmed their dedication to the successful implementation of the ML-1 project, symbolizing the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, representing the Chinese side, highlighted the project’s foundation on mutual understanding and emphasized its integral role in fostering cooperation and development.
Ambassador Zaidong affirmed: “We are fully committed to working with the Pakistani side, and our joint efforts aim to accelerate the realization of the ML-1 project.”
Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar underscored that the ML-1 project has consistently remained the top priority for the Government of Pakistan.
He emphasized the existing political will to translate these priorities into tangible on-ground developments.
Tarar commended the collaborative efforts between the two nations and expressed admiration for Chinese expertise and participation in the ML-1 project.
“We are determined to expedite the implementation of ML-1, and with the political will in place, we are poised to transform plans into action,” he said.
