CPEC eases commuters movement in Lahore

Lahore: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)’s Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) has significantly eased commuters movement in this historic city of Pakistan.

Developed as part of the CPEC, this urban transit system signifies a transformative endeavor for both commuters and the city itself.

Since its inauguration on October 25, 2020, the OLMT has revolutionized urban mobility in Lahore, significantly reducing travel time and expenses for its residents.

With over 323,000 train journeys completed, carrying approximately 130 million passengers, the project has notably benefited students, workers, and the economically disadvantaged, offering them a sustainable, accessible, and cost-effective means of transportation.

Beyond facilitating daily commutes, the OLMT serves as a model of operational efficiency, boasting an impressive 99.99 percent punctuality rate.

This achievement underscores the commitment and diligence of its workforce, who have navigated challenges such as power outages and adverse weather conditions with resilience and adaptability.

Central to the success of the OLMT is the collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese personnel.

Part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) launched in 2013, CPEC aims to enhance transportation and industrial ties between China and Pakistan.
