Pakistan: Orders issued to provide bulletproof vehicles to Chinese nationals working on non-CPEC projects within 2 days

Lahore: Pakistan’s Punjab Home Department has issued a directive under which non-China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, which fail to provide bulletproof vehicles for Chinese nationals working on them within two days, will be shut down.

The decision, aimed at ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals, underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to safeguarding foreign workers involved in various projects across the province.

The Punjab Home Department has dispatched a letter to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Special Protection Unit, highlighting the urgency of implementing stringent security protocols for non-CPEC projects.

The directive explicitly states that projects failing to procure bulletproof vehicles within the stipulated timeframe will face temporary shutdowns.

The Home Department has urged project authorities to either purchase or rent bulletproof vehicles to comply with the security requirements. A two-day deadline has been given to private and public non-CPEC projects to purchase the bulletproof vehicles.

The government has already raised security concerns surrounding Chinese nationals, prompting heightened vigilance and precautionary measures.
