London: Cristiano Ronaldo is set to play in his sixth European championships with Portugal. The 2016 champions open their group F campaign against the Czech Republic next Tuesday with games against Turkey and debutants Georgia to come.

Upon arrival in Germany, Ronaldo has said the team is well prepared and is confident they can go all the way. Even at 39, he continues to be a stalwart of Portugal’s side. He has the record for most international games with 207 and most goals with 130. And the Al Nassr forward enters the tournament in form after 10 goals in qualifying and a brace in their most recent friendly against Iceland.

Ronaldo missed most of the final with France eight years ago after coming off early with an injury, but was inspirational from the sidelines in giving players direction. Now nudging 40, he plays a different role but still knows he’s as motivated as ever.

“Let’s see, as I said in the last game, it’s step by step, live in the moment, be calm, if you work well as we have done so far, believe that it’s possible, the dream must always be alive and it’s game by game, you have to be calm and we know it’s a short competition, but I think the team is very prepared,” sai
